Virat Kohli reached a significant landmark in the RCB vs PBKS match. He not only helped his team win their first match of the season but also got to his 100th fifty-plus score in T20 cricket.  Kohli got to his fifty off just 31 balls against PBKS during the chase of 177. With this, Kohli joins Chris Gayle and David Warner as the third player to reach the landmark in T20 cricket.

Kohli’s masterclass innings consisted of 8 boundaries and one six. Despite losing wickets on the other end, Kohli continued to put the pressure on the PBKS bowlers and kept the scoreboard ticking. He got out on 77 runs, putting the Challengers in strong position to win the match. This was Kohli’s 51st IPL fifty in his illustrious IPL career.

Kohli became the first Indian to score 50+ runs in 20-20 cricket matches for 100 times. The closest Indian batter to Kohli is Rohit Sharma. Former MI captain has 81 fifty-plus scores. Leading the chart is ‘universal boss’ Chris Gayle, who has 110 fifty-plus scores. David Warner is right behind him with 109.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru has a strong batting lineup. But the side collapsed against Punjab Kings bowling attack chasing 178 runs. Despite Kohli’s 77 runs, the match was hung in balance as RCB lost ‘too many’ wickets in the chase. But Dinesh Karthik, known for his finishing skills, came into the bat and scored quickfire 28 runs from 10 balls.

RCB needed 37 runs from the last three overs. Dinesh Karthik managed to slog three fours and two sixes in clutch time as he won the match for RCB with four balls to spare.
