  • Navjot Singh Sidhu rates Virat Kohli higher than Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar
  • Sidhu argues in Virat’s favour over adaptability and durability
  • Virat Kohli will play in the IPL 2024 Season opener against MS Dhoni on March 22

Viray Kohli is a great batsman and has delivered in all formats of the game for India. Representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL, he is also the all-time leading scorer in the league. More at the international level, Kohli has 80 centuries combined in all formats, second only to master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. But when it comes to comparisons, renowned cricketer-turned-commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has showered praise on ‘King Kohli’.

Talking to India Today, Navjot Singh expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli, describing him as the “Greatest of All Time”.  Sidhu specifically emphasizes that Kohli surpasses cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Viv Richards. Highlighting Kohli’s ability to adapt swiftly and excel across all formats of the game, Navjot Singh attributed his assertion to Kohli’s remarkable performances over the years.

Former India batter Navjot Singh Sidhu said ‘best ever’ Virat Kohli is better than Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. While Virat’s achievements are astonishing, comparisons between different eras and cricketers were uncalled for.

What Navjot Sidhu Said for Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar

Navjot Singh noted that while cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar encountered challenges, Kohli’s technique and athleticism set him apart from his predecessors. Navjot Singh also pointed out the importance of evaluating a player’s contributions beyond mere accolades. As per Sidhu Kohli is better ‘finisher’ who would win games for his team.

“I have rated him as the best Indian batter ever. There are eras where I would put up my transistor and listen to Sunil Gavaskar bat against the West Indies, those are the 70s. The great West Indies fast bowlers, bunking school and just going out one period and listening to how he was batting and without a helmet, that was his era. He dominated for almost 15-20 years. Then came Tendulkar, another era. Then came Dhoni, and then came Virat. If you look at four, I would rate him as the best because he has adapted to all three formats,”

Navjot Singh Sidhu on Virat Kohli

While Sidhu rejoins IPL as a commentator, fans will get a chance to hear more ‘Sidhuism’ during the IPL 2024 season. As for Virat Kohli, he will be playing against MS Dhoni in IPL 2024 season opener.
