Talking on All the Smoke Podcast, Rajon Rondo shook the world by confirming his retirement from active action. The 16-year veteran last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. When asked about is this the end? Rondo replied, without taking any time – “Absolutely Yeah, I’m done. I can’t. I’d rather spend time with my kids.”

When basketball fans talk about fans, very few can miss out on the Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo. 4-time All-Star and two-time NBA Champion known for his Basketball IQ and pin-point passing accuracy. The star earned a name for himself with his clever plays and iconic ‘behind-the-back fake pass’. He won titles with the Boston Celtics (2007-08) and Los Angeles Lakers (2019-20). In his 16-season career, Rondo led the league in steals once and was also a three-time assists leader during his time at the Celts.

The 38-year-old guard might not have very flashy stats to show off but his impact on the court was undeniable. He averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 957 career games. He represented nine different franchises, but his time at the Celtics and the Lakers was the most productive one.

“What a time, it was definitely something that I never took for granted when I was in the game. I loved every minute of it, and I appreciate the brotherhood that I was able to share and bond and grow with over the years. I’ve learned so much in this game and it’s made me the man I am today. … I tell people all the time, this wasn’t a dream of mine, it was a goal. I was able to lock in, stay disciplined, I didn’t party a lot in college. But it was worth the sacrifice of me getting to where I wanted to be in life.”

Rondo was considered to be one of the finest and toughest players to ever play the game. LeBron James called him a “spectacular player” after L.A.’s game on Tuesday night. LeBron battled against prime Rondo in the Eastern Conference. They both were teammates and won the title with the Lakers in 2020.
