The video surfaced from the MI vs GT IPL 2024 match, where Rohit Sharma was fielding at the long-on position. Fans near the boundary line showed their love and appreciation for the Indian skipper and chanted “Hamara Captain Kaisa ho, Rohit Sharma Jaisa Ho” (How should our captain be, he should be like Rohit Sharma)
Rohit Sharma has been a popular figure in Indian cricket. He has done exceptionally well both as a batter and captain of the national side. In the IPL also, Sharma himself has six titles and led the Mumbai Indians team to five championships. Fans love him for his batting and as captain of the team also. But the franchise decided to use Rohit as a ‘player’ and named Hardik Pandya as captain of the MI team.
Mumbai Indians will Look for a First Win of the 2024 IPL Season
After a gutted display in the first match against reigning runners-up Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians lost the match by six runs. Since the side last won the IPL trophy (2020), MI has been facing trouble finishing up the matches. They finished fifth in the 2021 season. The poor performances in the later season put them at rock bottom place.
2023 has not been kind to them either. They finished a respectable fourth in the season but were humiliated in the playoffs. The start of the 2024 season has not been very encouraging either. The cracks in ‘the team’ are clearly visible and they need to address the issue before it’s too late. Mumbai Indians will play Sunrisers Hyderabad next. Both teams lost their opening matches in the IPL 2024.
