Sumit Nagpal has been making a name for himself ever since he qualified for the main draw in the 20924 Australian Open. The talented Tennis star continued his strong form and now has a win at the Miami Open. He defeated Canadian Gabrial Diallo in the first qualifier match.
After both players held their serves in the opening set of the match. Nagpal produced a masterclass in the tiebreaker. Winning two important points off Diallo’s serves, Nagal bagged the tiebreaker 7-3. The second set started in a similar fashion but Nagpal managed two serve breaks to close the set 6-2. Sumit Nagpal won the first qualifier with a scoreline of 7-6, 6-2.
Sumit Nagpal 2024 Tennis Season
India’s Number one Tennis player – in the singles category is having a great Tennis season. Although he has not won any title yet his progress in the field is remarkable. At the 2024 Australian Open, Nagpal became the only Indian to qualify for the singles main draw since Somdev Devvarman (in 2017). He even won his first Grand Slam match down under.
The 26-year-old star played in five different tournaments since then and made it into the second or third round of the competitions – the first time in his career. Starting the Calander year from World number 139, Sumit Nagpal is now on the verge of breaking into the top 100.
