  • Kevin Durant is only the second active player in the NBA All-time scoring list after LeBron
  • Durant spent 16 seasons in the NBA and played for four different teams
  • Durant has four scoring titles in his career

Kevin Durant is an elite scorer. Some even argue that he is very hard to guard and can score at his will. Having said this, KD is now eighth in the NBA’s All-time scorers list and is only the second active player in that list after LeBron James. LBJ has spent 20 seasons in the league and is still active, while Durant is in his 16th season.

Durant entered the night against the Philadelphia 76ers needing 9 points to pass Shaq and scored 8 in the first half. With a mid range shot early in the third quarter, KD reached the milestone. The 35-year-old forward is now behind Wilt Chamberlain on the list. He needs just below 2000 points to reach seventh place. Shaq congratulated Durant on the accomplishment and the Suns played the video on big screen at Footprint Center.

Kevin Durant and his scoring seasons

There are very few seasons that Durant hasn’t delivered offensively for his team. He has an amazing career and led the league in scoring four times. Durant averaged 20.3 points in 2007-08 and won the Rookie of the Year award. Interestingly that is the only season in which Durant averaged less than 25 points per game. KD has the best season average of 32 points in the 2013-14 season.

Talking about his rise, he entered the 2022-23 Season as ranked 21st all-time (around 25500 points). Then representing the Brooklyn Nets, KD overtook Alex English, Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett, John Havlicek, Paul Pierce, Tim Duncan, Dominique Wilkins and Oscar Robertson to reach 13th place. Next playing his first full season with the Suns, KD surpassed Hakeem Olajuwon, Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, Carmelo Anthony and now O’Neal.
