Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly is also a football fan and always wanted to get involved in professional football. He did get a chance and he grabbed it with both hands. Although he will not be sweating it out on the field but has a strong say in decision-making for the future of a football team. To cut the story short – Pierre Gasly invested in FC Versailles. The club plays in the French League.
Talking about his new association Gasly mentioned that it was his dream to be involved in professional football. The Alpine driver excited with new advancement said, “This is the start of a wonderful story. Go Versailles!
Formula 1 Driver Pierre Gasly Confirms New Collaboration with French third-division club FC Versailles
Speaking to French outlet L’Equipe, Gasly highlighted how he came across the opportunity.
“I had been looking for some time to get involved in an ambitious project. I was looking at what was happening in that world and I met the Mulliez family. It’s not the biggest financial commitment of my life as an entrepreneur. But it is the one that emotionally engages me the most. Above all, it’s a passion project for me, to create something solid in terms of training, and women’s football too.”
Mulliez took over the financially struggling club last year. The club did not reveal the percentage of Gasly’s shareholding. Talking about Gasly’s involvement in the club’s project, they mentioned that club is looking for medium-term and long-term ambitions.
